About👤
Horiuchi Chiyomi has been creating elegant and colorful dolls since 2006. Horiuchi-sensei's passion for Kokeshi dolls began at a young age, as she watched her mother intricately carve and paint these traditional Japanese Kokeshi.
Over the years, she has honed her craft and developed her own unique style, blending traditional techniques with modern influences. Her dedication to preserving this folk-art form is evident in the meticulous detail and vibrant colors of each Kokeshi she creates.
She studied under the guidance of her fellow classmate and Kokeshi artisan, Tokumaru Etsuko, and finds inspiration in Japanese folktales, culture, fabrics, and ceramics. Horiuchi-sensei has won multiple-awards for her works.
