Born in Gunma prefecture, he studied under the guidance of his brother Fujikawa Masae (Shōei). Kazumi san is a multi-award wining artisan. He received the Prime Minister's award for his Kokeshi Titled Heartbeat.

Fujikawa-san works alongside his brother at their company Fujikawa Craft Corporation in 1991.

The family continue in the Kokeshi business as of 07/27/2021. Which includes brother Fujikawa Kazumi (y. 1951) and nephew Fujikawa Eiichi (y. 1970).
