Welcome to soulprotals.com. I have been an avid Kokeshi enthusiast since 2007. I originally created this site to keep track of the dolls I have in my collection. It later took on a life of its own as a quick reference source.

Today soulportals.com is known as Kokeshi Village and is composed of a community of collectors who love Japanese wooden dolls, known as Kokeshi. Kokeshi, are categorized as a folkart, & have been made since the late edo period in the Tōhoku region of Japan. There are many distinct types, colors and shapes. We hope that in sharing their beauty more interest will grow and artisans can continue to create these hand crafted dolls for more generations to come. We also publish an online Journal "Kokeshi Trends" to share and educate our community on all things Kokeshi and Kokeshi inspired.

I hope that you find some of these pages helpful in your search for information about Kokeshi.
