Twenty Four Eyes |

Nijushi no Hitomi or Twenty-Four Eyes is a Movie filmed in
Shodoshima, which translates to "small bean island" it
is
located on the Seto Island Sea between Okayama and Takamatsu
prefectures, with less than 35,000 inhabitants. It is sometimes
referred to at the Natural Museum because of it's pleasant
climate and thriving ecosystem. The movie, originally a Novel
written by Sakae Tsuboi, follows the life of a Teacher and her
first class of students as they grow up on the island during the
rise of Japanese nationalism and leading into WWII. The above images, from left to right, picture from the movie scene, next is the statue of "People in Peace" located in Tonosho Port and made of bronze, which reminds the people to wish for peace and happiness and greets people as they enter the port, the last is a Kokeshi souvenir rendition of 24 eyes, the teacher and her 12 students. |
