TSUCHIYU developed in Fukushima
prefecture. Style is traced back to about 1840s to a Kijishi named
Sakuma Kamegoro who produced the dolls as souvenirs for tourist
of the Tsuchiyu Onsen. He mainly produced unpainted toys but was
inspired to add color after a visit to a shrine. Later his grandson
continued the development of the Tsuchiyu style. 1 of the 4 main
