Welcome to my Dento-Traditional Kokeshi Collection,
these dolls are not for sale. Traditional Kokeshi have been created
in wood form since the late Edo (1603-1867) period in Japan. There
are 10 prefectures which produce Traditional Kokeshi, with a few
additional sub-strains. |
||||
NANBU - HANAMAKI are sub strains of the Kina-Kina Kokeshi style both were developed in the same spa. The Hanamaki Kokeshi have influence from the Tougatta and Narugo styles. It's quite interesting that Kina Kina predates Nanbu & Hanamaki yet is not considered one of the 10 main strains. These dolls are sometimes hard to classify since they fall under various categories so their may be some inconsistencies. | ||||
