29Undetermined Artist Can you help identify this Artist? The writting on the bottom of this Kokeshi has been translated to: June 25th, Showa 42 , Oga Peninsula. Showa 42 is 1967. Oga peninsula is a part of Akita prefecture. Written by the first owner of this doll. Therefore the doll is unsigned it may have had a nameplate which was misplaced by previous owner so still hoping to identify the artist. Thanks to Tomoko Young for translating the markings on the bottom.

He is accompanied by a minogame (蓑亀), which is symbolic of longevity and wisdom. Cranes are spotted overhead enjoying flight under Japan's red sun. Pine leaves can also be seen laying on the floor, also known for longevity and good fortune and peace.
